Rules

Writers’ Emporium is a PG 13 site.

  • Within main chat, swearing, talking about drug use (but not how to do/make said drugs), is allowed.

  • Within RPs, swearing, mild drug use, violence, and foreplay (i.e. kissing, hugging, caressing, etc.) is allowed.

  • Once an RP moves onto the more erotic content of a scene, it must be agreed upon by all RPers to do said scene and moved to PM (Private Message).

Members need to follow the individual rules, made by the RP GM, of the RP they are participating in. Based on said rules, they may override the sites rules, within reason. Rules about erotic content still apply.

No Trolling, Flaming, Offensive Slurs, or Unnecessary Drama.

  • Trolling - Making a deliberately offensive or provocative online posting with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.

  • Flaming - Flaming is another word for a written version of verbal, emotional and even sexual abuse. The flamer writes content that will invoke certain emotions and responses such as rage, sadness, humiliation, self-doubt and more.

  • Offensive Slurs - A word or phrase directed at a particular individual or group, intended to insult, based on a particular trait belonging to that group. This includes: Gender, Race, Nationality, Religion, etc.

  • Unnecessary Drama - Causing an argument or negative situation, where there does not need to be any.

No Godmodding, Powerplaying, or Metagaming.

  • Godmodding - This is when a player gives their character access to abilities, items, and actions that should not normally or currently be available to said character, in order for him/her to have an unfair advantage.

  • Powerplaying - Damaging or controlling another player’s character, without that player’s consent and outside the boundaries of the RP logic.

  • Metagaming - The unfair usage of information by a player which is only available in an OOC format, and should not be used by characters without such knowledge.

Example: Player A learns that Player B’s character has a weakness to water, however player A’s character does not have this knowledge in the story. Player A then uses this information to have his/her character attack player B with a water-based attack.

Do NOT OOC (Out of Character) chat in an IC (In Character) Zone and Use brackets when speaking OOC.

  • NO OOC in an IC zone - Do NOT go into an IC (In Character) area and bother the people who are RPing. If you are not meant to be in a RP, do NOT go in and try to talk to the RPers OOC or butt into their RP with a character that is not supposed to be in the RP. If you want/need to contact a RPer directly, do it in chat or through a message. If you want to be a part of a RP, contact the RPer who is starting the RP through PM, in chat, or on their partner search.

  • Use Brackets when speaking OOC - If you want to talk OOC (Out of Character) in the RP you are participating in, (use some) {sort of} ((brackets)) [to show that] you are speaking OOC.

Copying or taking ideas or content from another member of the website without consent of that member is strictly monitored and prohibited, and will result in immediate disciplinary action. This does not include unoriginal fan-based content taken from a source that is original work.

  • Fan-based Content -  Artwork or writing that uses information from a commercially created source (Example: Dragon Ball Z, Harry Potter, etc.)

**If any rules are broken, contact a staff member immediately, so that the situation can be handled, if all parties involved cannot correct the behavior on their own, in private. If the issue(s) persists, measures will be taken, by the staff, so that the negativity is stopped.**
